  • Potential energy is st…d energy, or the energy of p…on – gr…al energy. Kinetic energy is the 5) … of waves, electrons, atoms, molecules, substances, and objects.
  • Task 2. Match energy forms with their definitions. State whether these forms refer to either potential or kinetic energy.
  • Task 3. Analyze the passages given below, put them into the correct order and state which of them describe the following processes: treatment, conversion, storage, separation.
  • Emissions and Byproducts Produced from Burning Petroleum Products
  • UNIT 4 - PROPANE AND NATURAL GAS AS POWER SOURCES
  • UNIT 6 - URANIUM (NUCLEAR) POWER PRODUCTION
    • Task 3. Restore the words in the text “Nuclear Power Comes from Fission”.
    • Task 4. Match the sentence parts.
  • Task 5. Basing on tasks 3 and 4 discuss in pairs the following issues:
  • - the difference between fusion and fission;
  • - the energy value of nuclear fuel as compared with gasoline;
  • - the possible dangers of nuclear reactors.
  • Task 6. Describe the types of nuclear reactors.
    • Boiling-Water Reactors - the water heated by the reactor core turns directly into steam in the reactor vessel and is then used to power the turbine-generator.
    • Pressurized-Water Reactors - the water heated by the reactor core is kept under pressure so that it does not turn to steam at all and remains liquid. This hot radioactive water flows through a piece of equipment called a steam generator.
  • Task 7. Render the text in English.
